The recent parish bulletins are now posted for St. Rose of Lima and for our partner parishes in Alexander and Pulaski Counties.
Here are the Nov. 10 and Nov. 17 bulletin announcements for St. Rose of Lima parish:
WELCOMING NEW CHURCH MEMBERS: We welcome all new members who are considering joining our St. Rose of Lima Church, Metropolis. Pope Francis is reminding us that the Church of God must be a community that is ever welcoming all to encounter and experience the love and presence of JESUS the Risen LORD of this church community!
Parish Office Closed: The parish office will be closed Thursday, November 7 through Monday, November 18. Sabrina, our parish secretary, will be going to Jacmel, Haiti to serve at an orphanage there with over 80 orphans from the 2010 Earthquake; many of them lost one or both of their parents. Please keep Sabrina and her team in your prayers during this time. Thank you!
GOD BLESS YOUR WEEKLY OFFERINGS: May the Lord bless you and let His face shine upon you and be gracious to you, and thank you for your financial support to His Church. (Numbers 6:22-27)
C.O.P.E. SPECIAL REQUEST: Our local food pantry is in need of some special items for the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. We are collecting stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin dessert mixes. These items along with a few others are added to special bags given in addition to the regular groceries. Please be as generous as possible!
Giving Us Your Email Address: These days we get diocesan and parish news that we would like to pass onto you quickly – please consider sending us your names and email address to stroseoflimametropolis@comcast.net.
And here are the November 3 bulletin announcements for our partner parishes:
WELCOMING NEW CHURCH MEMBERS: We welcome all new members who are considering joining our Catholic Church. Pope Francis is reminding us that the Church of God must be a community that is ever welcoming all to encounter and experience the love and presence of JESUS the Risen LORD of this church community!
Bible Study Group will meet on Monday, November 4 starting at 6:30 PM at St. Patrick Hall, Cairo.
ST. PATRICK PARISH 175TH ANNIVERSARY: In celebrating the 175th anniversary of the founding of St. Patrick Parish in 1838, the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, November 10th will be offered in thanksgiving to God for the many years and generations of blessings He has shown us. One of the blessings has been the great generosity of the parishioners over the years. This year, thanks to the generosity, we were able to re-paint and restore the beautiful ceiling of our upper church. Our anniversary Mass will be held upstairs next weekend. The elevator is working so that parish members and guests who cannot climb the stairs will be able to join us. After Mass there will be a potluck lunch in the parish hall. The parish will provide the meat, the drinks, and the paper goods. Everyone in our 3 parishes is asked to come and join us and bring a side dish or dessert to be shared. May God continue to bless us.
UPPER CHURCH: In order to appreciate the work that has been done in the upper church and to be able to enjoy the gift of worshiping there, the Sunday Mass at 11:00 a.m. will be held upstairs for the next two months. As long as the elevator is working and the temperatures don’t get too cold, we will gather upstairs for Mass from now through the Christmas season.
THANK YOU to all who came down on Wednesday evening and worked so hard to clean our upper church so that we can use it. It is beautiful! God bless you all for your service to Him and to our parish.
